JUST IN: South-West Governors' Forum postponed

- The South-East governors have announced the postponement of its forum

The South-East governors have announced the postponement of the forum scheduled to hold on Monday, April 24.

NAIJ.com gathered that the South-East Governors' Forum said the meeting which was scheduled to take place in Abeokuta, Ogun state capital city has been postponed.

A statement by the senior special assistant to the Ogun state governor on media Adejuwon Soyinka said the postponement of the forum is in honour of the late director general of Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission Dipo Famakinwa.

The South-East governors have announced the postponement of its forum

Soyinka said postponing the meeting will give members of the forum the opportunity to honour Famakinwa.

He said: “The South West Governors have decided to put the meeting on hold in honour of the Director -General of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria, DAWN Commission, Mr. Dipo Famakinwa, who sadly passed away on Friday, April 21, 2017."

“While we regret any inconveniences this might have caused, a future date for the meeting will be duly communicated," Soyinka said.

Famakinwa died in a Lagos hospital on Friday, April 21, the eve of planned evacuation for medical treatment abroad.

Also, an Osun state Senator Isiaka Adeleke died on Saturday, April 23, at Bikets Hospital in Oshogbo the Osun state capital after suffering a heart attack.

Although the circumstances surrounding Adeleke's death is yet unknown, many reports and sources within his family has alleged foul play.

His death has also led to series of protests in Osun state over reports that Adeleke was allegedly poisoned by some unknown individuals.

The late senator has since been buried in his hometown in Ede, Osun state today, Monday, April 24.
