Senator Dino Melaye has revealed that if he is indicted by the Senate for any wrong doing, he will duly step aside.
The senator who appeared on Sunrise Daily aired on Channels Television on Friday, April 21, the Melaye spoke about the suspension of Babachir Lawal, the secretary to the government of the federation and Ayo Oke, the director-general of the National Intelligence Agency.
The senator had taken to his twitter page to mock Lawal’s suspension in his now iconic “Ajekun iya” song and reiterated his support for his suspension when he appeared on Sunrise Daily.
He revealed that the issue of Lawal started from the Senate where the Senator Shehu Sani-led committee indicted him on misappropriation of fund meant for IDPs.
Asked what he would do if he was indicted for wrongdoing, Melaye vowed to step down to allow proper investigation to be carried out.
He said: “If there is a report on a senate indicted, he should step aside. If I am indicted, I would step aside.
“When the committee on ethic probed me, I stepped aside as I cannot be part of my own investigation.
“You are morally bounded, not just until you are asked to.”
On the relationship between the Senate and the presidency, Melaye said the relationship was cordial and not cold as reported.
He insisted that the senate respect the anti-corruption was of President Muhammadu Buhari and will continue to support him to the extent of the law.
