THE Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) has officially endorsed the third edition of Gulder Five -A-Side Football Competition.
A letter dated March 22, 2012 and signed by the NFF President, Aminu Maigari, read in part: “We have no objection to this third edition that seeks to stimulate even further the spread and interest in Five-A-Side Football in our dear country.”
According to him, the competition has generated huge awareness and keen interest for five-a-side football in Nigeria. He said: “We acknowledge the huge awareness and keen interest that the Gulder Five-A-Side Football Competition has generated in football in this country.”
He further commended the Gulder brand, produced by Nigerian Breweries Plc, for its commitment towards developmental football through the initiative. According to Maigari, “it is noteworthy that your sponsor (Gulder) has strengthened commitment to ensure that the event will not only be memorable but pace-setting in the area of five-a-side football in Nigeria.
“The present NFF administration is interested in any project that seeks to develop the game in our country, and we thank you for this stride, while counting on your continuous link with us for technical support for this programme.”
Reacting to the endorsement, Marketing Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Walter Drenth, thanked the NFF for its support, saying: “The official endorsement by the Nigerian Football Federation, the body charged with overseeing football competitions and activities in Nigeria, for this year’s edition is testament that Nigerians should expect nothing but the best in terms of five-a-side football in Nigeria.
