- Andrew A Kumapayi, Rivers state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) was spotted chopping off the hair of female staff
- They were reportedly being punished for contravening some work place regulations
The Rivers state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Andrew A Kumapayi, conducted a general inspection on staff during the parade on Monday April 10.
NAIJ.com gathered that their hair, uniform and finger nails were inspected and surprisingly, the hair of female staff who contravened some work place regulations was chopped off.
The photos were shared on Facebook by FRSC Rivers sector with the caption: “The sector commander RS6.1, Rivers CC Andrew A Kumapayi conducting a general (hair, uniform and finger nails) inspection on staff of RS6HQ, Port-Harcourt and RS6.1, Rivers during the parade on Monday 10th April, 2017.”
The FRSC allegedly has a rule which states that all female officers in uniform must not have a hairstyle that drops past their collar.
Nigerians are not happy about this and are wondering why the FRSC had to post such on social media.
Some are saying it is out of place and the commander probably just wanted to show power.

It appears the women were not bothered about their hair being chopped off as some had smiles on their faces.
Following the incident and reactions of Nigerians who were not too pleased with it, the corps marshal of the FRSC, Boboye Oyeyemi, has reportedly ordered the recall of Kumapayi.
Report has it that Kumapayi and the other officers who engaged in the act were given immediate suspension pending the outcome of an investigation into the issue.
