The former military head of state Ibrahim Babangida has given reason why he created Anambra state in the South-East region.
Babangida said he has the desire to improve lives of ordinary people in different parts of Nigeria.
Speaking on Thursday, March 16, when some Anambra officials visited him at his Hilltop home in Minna, Niger state, Babangida said, it is for this reason, the state was created by his administration 25-years ago.
The group led by the deputy governor of Anambra state Nkem Okeke was at Minna to present a dummy book on Anambra to Babangida.
Babangida also told the team that he was willing to author the forward the Anambra state history photo book.

“It will be my pleasure to be part of this historic book. Anambra is a state dear to my heart. And I am proud of the development strides so far recorded in the state.”
The former military general noted that the state was created in 1991 to ensure that development got to the rural areas, which hitherto was neglected.
He also said the decision to document the history of the state is a laudable especially judging from the dummy of the book, a great job has been done in that respect.
Okeke who is also the chairman of the Anambra State @25 committee asked Babangida to write the forward to the Anambra State Compendium.
The book is a history book of the state, its people and rich cultural heritage, which is being produced as part of the state’s 25th anniversary.
