The Ibese Community in Egbado North Local Government area of Ogun State, and host to some cement industrialists, yesterday cried out to the Ogun State and Federal governments to as a matter of urgency, wade into the inhuman treatment being meted to them by its traditional ruler and some industrialists that have taken over their land without adequate compensation.
The community under the auspices of Ibese Community Development Representatives Council, also accused its traditional ruler, Oba Joel Bamgbose of a sell out to the industrialists thereby calling for his removal.
The IBCDRC alleged that Oba Bamgbose has turned the entire community into his personal property, hence his effontry to single handedly sign an MoU with some investors who took away peoples land with impunity.
Briefing people of the community on the development, the Chairman of the Association, Dr. Samuel Ajayi, alleged that Oba Joel Bamgbose, the Aboro of Ibeseland had gone ahead to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with the management of a cement company on his perssonal name instead of the community.
Dr. Ajayi explained that the community, in line with the provisions of Section 116(4) of the Mineral and Mining Act, 2007, Cap 162, had approached the traditional ruler on the need for an MoU with the company only for him to propose that the agreement be made in his own name.
