Soldier Detains Father, Son Over N1.8 Million Debt 4 years ago 26

An army officer at the weekend decided to take the laws into his hands by effecting the abduction and subsequent detention of a father and his three years old sick son in Suleja over debt allegedly owed him.

The incident which took place at about 7am last Friday in Ungwan Makama area of Sabo Tasha in Kaduna city, according to eyewitnesses, was between Daniel Yonana, 38, an architect, and Lt. Col. KC Uwa, Head of Special Force Quarters, Suleja barracks, Niger State.

The army officer was said to have engaged Yonana to supervise a building project for him, but along the line, according to close associates of Yonana, the officer decided to terminate Yonana’s supervisory role, allegedly using military might to deny him his entitlements.

The eyewitnesses who spoke to reporters but will prefer anonymity, added that on that fateful day, the army officer led about four other fully armed soldiers to Yonana’s house at No 8, Audu Mande road, Ungwan Makama, jumped the fence into the house after a deafening bang on the gate, held every other person in the house to ransom and smuggled Yonana and his sick son into a waiting van and zoomed off to Suleja detention camp.

However, when contacted on his mobile phone, Lt Col. KC Uwa said he has released the  father and son from detention, explaining that, “Daniel Yonana is assisting me in building my house in Kaduna.

“I sent him money to buy materials, N1.8 million. He did not buy the materials worth and refused to refund my money, since October last year.

“Is he doing this to me because I am a soldier? I have my own rights too as a Nigerian. I released him yesterday after many people intervened and he promised to refund the money in December.” Home Page
