Two suspects in police custody for murdering police officer

- Two suspects who murdered a police officer in Okitipupa, Ondo state, have been arrested by the police

- The police officer was murdered on February 5 while returning from duty at 5.am

- The suspects have been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation

For allegedly shooting and killing a police corporal, Michael Olujimi, in Okitipupa, Ondo state, two suspects in the act have been apprehended by the police in Ondo state.

Daily Post reports that operatives of the police in Okitipupa confirmed the arrest of the suspects.

Michael Olujimi was shot dead on February 5 at Okitipupa at 5.30am by the hoodlums.

The Divisional Police Officer in the area, DSP Oluwole Ojo said the case has been transferred to the SCID in Akure, the Ondo state capital, for investigation.

He said: “Yes, we arrested some suspects in connection with the death of one of our officer: they were arrested for unlawful possession of ammunition and firearms but investigation is ongoing.

“In fact, the rifle that resembles that of the dead officer was found on one of them and they have been transferred to the SCID in Akure for further investigation.”

“We appeal to residents to be calm as the police are on top of the situation.

“I urge them to cooperate with us by giving useful information on criminal activities and perpetrators.”
