A private driver of senator representing Ondo North Senatorial District, Ajayi Borroffice, Michael Agunloye, has been arraigned before an Akure Chief Magistrate Court for manslaughter.
Agunloye was accused of killing a 52-year-old nurse, Mrs. Florence Aduni Olusori. The accused person, who was driving a vehicle in the convoy of the Senator when the incident happened, was accused by the Police of driving dangerously and in the process killing the woman.
The family of the deceased was said to have been irked by the alleged insensitive attitude of the senator who has not deemed it fit to visit the family or send a delegation since the incident happened last August. The family of the Olusori had earlier in the year lost their father.
A charge preferred against the driver read: “That you Michael Agunloye on the 29th of August, 2012, at about 1630hours on Akure/Owo Expressway, Akure in Ogbese Magistrate district, being a driver in charge of unregistered Nissan Titan V8 Pick-up van with inscription ‘Pilot Vehicle,’ drove same in a manner dangerous to the public highway … and caused the death of one Mrs. Florence Aduni Olusori …”
Agunloye, however, pleaded not guilty. Magistrate A. Fatusin granted him bail with N500.000 and a surety in like sum. He adjourned the hearing of the case to October 15.
