The group says the ex-governor has the capacity to salvage the country from drifting.

Spokesman of the Group, Alhaji Ali Tukur Gantsa told reporters in Kano, on Monday, February 13, that the circumstances the country found itself now required the experience of a man with political sagacity of the former governor.

He said: “things are nothing going on the way it should be and we have increasingly witnessed things going from bad to worse in recent times”.

Gantsa said: “Nigeria and indeed Nigerians have never at any point of her chequered political history been so exposed, and we earnestly called on Sule Lamido to step out and offer hope.

The Jigawa born politician who led hundreds of other likemind that cut across Nigeria socio-ethnic, religious and political strata to NUJ press centre, explained that Lamido’s impeccable record as a performer made him a favourite choice. Gantsa further stated that “Alhaji Sule Lamido track record as two term Governor of Jigawa state as evidently transformed the once rural state to envious height of urbanization among her peers in the federation was a pointer” .

Lamido antecedent in human development, and strategic policy that railroaded Jigawa to her present status of development gave him out as a quintessential performer Nigeria required his wealth of experience.

He appealed to Nigerians to throw their support behind Sule Lamido in order to help recover her lost ground and reposition it on the part of progress.

Vanguard reports that the group also prayed for ailing President Muhammadu Buhari, and further urged Nigerians to pray for the country.

Meanwhile, a coalition of pro-Buhari organizations under the aegis of Citizens Support for Good Governance in Nigeria (SGGN) has explained that it is organizing Pro-Buhari rallies across Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna and Kano this week to encourage President Muhammadu Buhari to shame and expose the agents of corruption that have frustrated the progress of the nation.

Co-convener of the rally, Comrade Moses Abdullahi, stated this while briefly the media in Abuja.

He said that such show of support has become necessary for a leader like President Muhammadu Buhari who is doing the “right things.”

Abdullahi said: “We must support President Muhammfu Buhari because with him, it can only get better.

“Our economy today is in chaos not because of him, but because of the lies and deceit of 16 years he inherited. PMB is not out for quick fix measures, he is out to make sure the foundation of this change is well laid such that even in the next 100 years, we will never suffer what we have gone through before today.

The pains and agony of today are temporary. If we rally round PMB and support him, we will ensure all the enemies of our progress & agents of corruption (who only want thing to continue like before) will be shamed & exposed.

“Nigeria today is a nation undergoing rebirth; a people seeking a new path to higher attainment; a diverse community where a new awakening of self-discovery can bring about a better economy for us all."
