Gunmen murder APC chieftain in Rivers

- Unknown gunmen have killed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state

- The chieftain is reportedly from Obor community in Osomini area of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area

- Mr Emmanuel Obuozo was assassinated at the early hours of Wednesday, January 25

Unknown gunmen have killed a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers state, The Authrority reports.

The chieftain, Mr Emmanuel Obuozo is from Obor community in Osomini area of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni local government area.

According to the report, the late Obuozo was assassinated at the early hours of Wednesday, January 25.

Till his death, the murdered politician in APC ward five in the area.

A source who disclosed the incident stated that the suspected assassins invaded the home of the APC chieftain shooting sporadically to make way for the killing of their target.

The source said, “Mr. Emma has been killed by some gunmen whom we have not identified. He is one of the leaders of APC in our community.

“The community is now in fear. We do not know what may have happened, but in the night we heard several gunshots. Later in the morning it was confirmed that Emma has been murdered.”

A senior police officer in the area who also confirmed the incident said investigation had commenced to unravel the perpetrators of the crime.

The incident is coming a day after a group of armed bandits invaded the premises of a High Court in Owerri and made away with their gang member facing court trial.
