But the presidency has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari was not snubbed for the inauguration ceremony of US president-elect, Donald Trump.

Presidential media aide, Malam Garba, in a statement on Thursday, January 19, described the news on Trump subbing Buhari as falsehood.

He said the US does not invite heads of state or president to the inauguration of their presidents and that President Buhari could therefore, not have been snubbed.

But the PDP has insisted that the US indeed extends invitations to some world leaders.

To prove this, the new media director of the party, Adeyanju Deji, shared some news items on social media which reported that some world leaders were invited to the inauguration of Donald Trump.

One of the reports shared by the party was a news story by Romania-Insider.com, which reported that Romanian prime minister, Sorin Grindeanu and the Social Democratic Party (PSD) leader and chamber of deputies president, Liviu Dragnea have been invited to American president-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration.

The news reports went further to state that first on the list of 12 leaders invited to the inauguration is Jamaican prime minister, Andrew Holness.

However, some commentators have warned that some fake news sites have been trying to boost the popularity of some world leaders by reporting that they were invited to Donald Trump's inauguration.

It is unclear if the PDP made reference to any of these fake news sites.
