Adama Barrow's inauguration to be held in Senegal

- The inauguration for Gambia’s President-elect Adama Barrow will take place at the Gambian embassy in Dakar, Senegal

- This is as President Yahya Jammeh has refused to leave office

- Barrow is expected to be sworn in today, January 19

Gambia's president-elect, Adama Barrow will be installed as Gambia's new President, today, January 19, at the Gambian embassy in Dakar, Senegal, Nigerian Bulletin reports.

Barrow, in a tweet, said: “I would like to inform you that the Inauguration Ceremony is going to take place at the Gambian Embassy in Dakar, Senegal.”

On Wednesday, January 18, the president-elect said: "We made history on the first day of December. Our future starts tomorrow."

Gambia's president-elect, who won the 1 December 2016 election, is currently in Senegal under protection as ECOWAS troops have entered the tiny West African country to force Jammeh out as his term elapses today.

Meanwhile, Gambian Army at Command Centre Kanilai are joining ECOWAS forces to remove President Yahya Jammeh.

This is coming as troops from Senegal, Ghana, Nigeria, Mali and Togo massed at the borders of Senegal, waiting for a green light to intervene and unseat Jammeh, who according to the constitution is no longer the country’s legitimate ruler.

It was also gathered that Gambian soldiers have withdrawn from strategic areas near the country’s borders with Senegal as ECOWAS soldiers prepare to move in.
