13 weird things that only Nigerians will understand
Nigeria is a place where people belief that conforming to acceptable standards seems to be a strange attribute.
The developing status of the country has turned lawful rights of its citizens to become a favour from the government. Here are 13 struggles majority of Nigerians can relate with.
1. Electricity palava
It is the responsibility of the government to provide adequate power supply to its community. In Nigeria, it is an irony because an average Nigerian will have in their mind that they will not meet light at home after a long day at work.
This is so absurd!
2. Nigerian weather
Although there is no winter or snow in Nigerian, but the dry season experience will make you realise that the weather alone is enough to show hardship. The intensity of the temperature will leave you convinced that someone left the gates of hell open.
The time you wished had an AC car in traffic.

3. Female drivers
No matter the level of education, every Nigerian man has the tendency to show supremacy in whatever they do. As a female driver you cannot even drive in peace without getting a little complain for male drivers.
You get to hear word like, no wonder! She is a woman. Like is a crime to be a female driver?

4. Crime issues
It so strange that in Nigeria, victims get blamed for culprit’s action. You are blamed for being molested or kidnapped. It was however believed that you were not dressed properly or not mindful of where you were walking.
Now it is my fault!
5. Nigerian time
Our punctuality is nothing to be proud of because it is collectively believed that Nigerians do not come early. If you live in Lagos you blame it on the traffic. Meanwhile you are still in your comfort zone.
Lateness is perceived as a norm in Nigeria.
6. Traffic
Traffic is a bit difficult to separate from Lagos live. This is why the state government has not totally eradicated street trading. It is hilariously said that Lagosians have their breakfast and dinner in the traffic.
There is nothing you cannot buy in traffic.
7. Customer services
Customers are always right but this is a skeptical approach in Nigeria. All customer service agents, especially those in the banking and communication sector think they are above doing their jobs.
Customer care indeed!
8. Nigerian politicians
Nigerian supposed leaders do not even respect the people’s opinion anymore. You are used to their unattainable promises and they still go away with it.
Are we still practising democracy?
9. National cake
People (top officials) are stealing money yet everybody else is broke. Imagine somebody with millions of dollars in their possession. The nation’s wealth has been termed with “national cake” that everyone want to have a bit at the barest opportunity.
Time of selfless leadership is gone.
10. Landlord wahala
Can you imagine how landlords will want you to pay 2 years rent upfront. This is so ridiculous because if you had had that money you should be living in your own mansion.
Even most of these houses will not be in look shape, you will still do some fixtures yourself.
11. Social media
Social media in Nigeria has become trendy among young and old, so an individual’s comment on their account can be a debate for general deliberation. And you wonder why on earth should another person take a painkiller for your headache.
Is it your concern?
12. ATM queue
It is only a Nigerian that will be scare to use the ATM to withdraw his/her own hard earned money. The queue that will welcome you will make you run without looking back to see if anything is chasing you.
And there is no money! So what are people withdrawing?
13. Work experience
The biggest problem faced by most Nigerian graduates is the work experience embargo placed on every job advert. Is it possible to graduate from the university with same years of study?
But it is so unfortunate that no one wants to listen.
