Indigines of Onigbedu village on Friday stormed governor’s office, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta calling for the removal of the warring monarch, Olu of Itori,Oba Fatai Akamo who allegedly slapped a villagehead Oba Adisa Akinremi.
Indication however emerged that,Oba Akamo was on his way out of his throne which he ascended eight years ago as Ogun state government has begun process of his dethronement.
It would be recalled that, Oba Akamo allegedly slapped Oba Akinremi during a disagreement on traditional matters at Divisional Office of Nigeria Police. Station in Itori in Ewekoro local government area of the state.
According to the findings , the embattled Oba Akamo who was beaten blueblack by Oba Akinremi was said to have been told to start packing his belonging in his palace.
At Friday’s protest, the placards carrying villagers described Oba Akamo as terrorist who had been allegedly involved in some controversial matters in the area.
Some of placards read thus : Olu of Itori, Oba Akamo: the evil of a generation, Akamo is only after money and not interested in our welbeing at Onigbedu-Elere and Egba traditional council has failed us among others.
Leading the protest, the villagehead of Onigbedu, Oba Sikiru Jinadu blamed Alake of Egbaland Oba Adedotun Gbadebo urged the state governor Senator Ibikunle Amosun to prevail on Alake and Akamo on the installation of new Oba.
The protesters who presented a protest letter to the state governor acussed the embattled Oba of sitting on the salaries of some lesser Obas in the area.
The protest letter reads” that chieftaincy fraud was perpetuated in the year 2010 by some traditional rulers specifically and explicitly, Chief Fatai Akamo (the Olu of Itori) along with his royal major, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo the Alake of Egbaland in appointing Chief Matthew Ajibulu, an Imeko indigines as Olu of Onigbedu without any iota of consultation and inputs of the various ruling houses in Onigbedu.
“That more importantly, there is an existing Oba Yinusa Akinwande appointed by His Royal majesty,Oba Dosunmu the Olowu of Owu kingdom in the year 2006 and the said appointment were supported by all ruling houses in Onigbedu town”.
Meanwhile, the state government has set up a panel to look into the activities of the Oba in the area.
The embattled Oba along with his warring colleaque have been summoned by the state government over the brawl.
