Agbaje said INEC is aware that VIPs are in town for the Ondo election but the electoral body would not accept them going around with armed bodyguards during the election process. To be safe from arrest, he advised them to stay in their hotels.

“We are aware that there are some VIP’s who have come into the state with their armed security men,” he said.

“The security agencies have been alerted on the development, and we have told them to arrest any of such persons who attempt to act in breach of the electoral law.

“We advise them to stay put in their hotels and not come out, or they will be arrested and dealt with appropriately,” Agbaje said.

He also warned electorates to help the security agents out so they can prevent VIPs from truncating election process.

“The people should be alive to their responsibilities,” he said. ”I believe that the voters will not allow them and should be able to speak out when they see such a thing.”

Meanwhile,  the Alliance for Democracy (AD) has warned INEC and security agencies against manipulating the results of the election in favour of any party, especially the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking with reporters, in Akure, the Ondo state capital, the Director General of Olusola Oke campaign organization Bola Ilori said any attempt to manipulate the result of the election will be resisted by the good people of Ondo State, adding that the people of the state should be allowed to choose who rules them.
