Fake Police Officer Jailed In Makurdi 4 years ago 1

A Chief Magistrate’s Court in Makurdi, Benue State yesterday sentenced one Joshua Dauda to six months imprisonment for impersonating as a police officer.  The convict was also said to have stolen a Jincheng motorcycle.

The Chief Magistrate, Dan Ogo, ruled that Dauda was guilty of the offences brought against him, and ordered that he should be given six strokes of cane in a public place.

Police prosecutor, Gabriel Egboyin, had earlier told the court that the convict on June 19 this year, impersonated as a police officer and arrested a commercial motorcyclist.

He was said to have taken the motorcyclist, Rumi Adego with his unregistered Jincheng motorcycle to the gate of ‘A’ Division Police Station, Wadata, Makurdi.

But that on reaching the police station’s gate, the convict who showed the motorcyclist a fake police Identity Card, disappeared with the motorcycle.

Luck ran out on him, as he was later arrested. The convict was given an option of N5000 fine, but was unable to pay and was taken to the Makurdi Minimum Prison. Home Page
