- The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is not one with happy members currently and it has made this known to President Buhari
- The party in Rivers wants the president to immediately warn some politicians allegedly turning the state into a danger zone
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers state has called on President Muhammadu Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, warn some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) saying the latter now constitute grave danger to the state.
The party expressed extreme anger at the alleged provocative and inciting activities of Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, a former governor and current minister under Buhari; Dakuku Peteside and Magnus Abe in the state.
The party said the trio had carried out their activities as if there is no one in charge of the state.
Daily Trust reports that in a statement by the state chairman of the party, Bro Felix Obuah and signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Jerry Needam, the party asked the president to act fast in order to prevent a breach of public peace in the state, especially as it prepares for senatorial rerun.
The statement said: “All these inciting actions and comments must stop except they want proof that nobody has monopoly of violence which is not the best for our people and also considering the amount of efforts and resources committed to peace and security of lives and properties by the incumbent PDP administration in the state.
“May we also caution our people and teeming supporters across the state to remain calm, law abiding but steadfast to their trust and confidence in the PDP while the re-run elections which we are very sure of winning are prosecuted in the coming weeks!"
