Van Persie: There’s More To Me Than Scoring 4 years ago 4

Manchester United striker Robin van Persie is determined to be more creative as he looks to become a supplier as well as a scorer of goals for the Red Devils.

Van Persie, 29, took his tally to seven goals in as many starts with a double to earn United victory in Tuesday’s Champions League clash against Cluj.

But the Dutchman, who set up nine Premier League goals for Arsenal last season, has only provided one so far for his new team-mates, scored by Shinji Kagawa against Tottenham on Saturday.

“I’d like to make more assists,” Van Persie said. “I have seven goals but for me, as I’ve said many times, it’s not only about goals. Of course it’s about winning, but I want to make more assists. Until now, I gave only one so I want that to improve a bit. I’m on a good run but I can always do better.”

Wayne Rooney set up both of Van Persie’s brace in Romania as the two top scorers in last season’s Premier League began a game together for the first time, albeit with the Englishman in a deeper role.

“I think it’s the first time we both started together and we’re both very pleased with that, but we’re all in it together,” Van Persie added. “Chicharito played very well, we have Danny [Welbeck] and we have lots of strikers.” Home Page
