Fresh revelations have emerged on the last words of Lt. Col. Muhammad Abu Ali to his soldiers before he was killed by Boko Haram insurgents.

Col. Abu Ali, who was the Commanding Officer, 272 Task Force Battalion at Mallam Fatori in Northern Borno, was killed in an ambush by Boko Haram terrorists, alongside four other soldiers on Friday, November 4.

Ali, a recipient of the Chief of Army Staff Award for exceptional bravery and excellence, led the army units that recovered Gamboru-Ngala, Baga and several communities from the terrorists.

Ali's death affected one of his soldiers Ayo Adebayo, who took to twitter to reveal the commander’s last words.

In a related development, President Muhammadu Buhari has paid tribute to top Army commander Colonel Abu Ali.

President Buhari, in a statement by his senior special assistant on media and publicity Garba Shehu, described late Col. Ali as “a courageous commander does not only give orders, but also joins his men to fight the battle, no matter the risks or the obvious danger.”

The funeral of the seven departed heroes who gave their lives for Nigeria last week fighting Boko Haram is taking place in Abuja on Monday, November 7.
