S’West, minorities’ll benefit from regional integration – Akande 4 years ago 6

National Chairman, Action Congress of Nigeria, Chief Bisi Akande, believes the South-West  and other ethnic nationalities  in the country will profit from regional integration.

Akande said this in an interview with our correspondent on Sunday in Ila, Osun State.

The former Osun State governor also dismissed the suggestion that the South-West had profited from “mainstream politics”.

He said, “In a federation, federating units should be according to ethnic nationalities. Ethnic nationality is God-created and we cannot blame God for this.

“If God has created us as one, why should our development not be the same? Mainstream politics is a means by some people to feather their nest at the expense of the masses.

“The Lagos-Ibadan Expressway has remained a death trap, despite mainstream politics played by the PDP at the federal level in the last 13 years.

“The last 13 years have been a period of waste and it has taken the resilience of the people to see democracy this far. Mainstream politics translates into poverty.”

The ACN chief  berated the Federal Government for increasing electricity tariffs, saying  the new the hike was  unacceptable to Nigerians.

Akande said, “What you don’t know how to produce, you can’t know how to cost. Nigeria does not know how to price, produce and distribute power.”

Linking the increase in electricity tariffs to the country’s  indebtedness, Akande called on Nigerians to reject the new tariffs. Home Page
