Kogi State Governor Idris Wada has said that the nation has so much to celebrate on its 52 independence anniversary.
Governor Wada, who stated this at an interdenominational church service organized by the state’s chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to mark the nation’s 52 anniversary in Lokoja, said there is nothing wrong with the composition of the country.
He blamed the nation’s woes on the inheritors of the legacies of the founding fathers.
Wada, who was represented by his deputy, Yomi Awoniyi, called on the country’s leaders to be selfless in the execution of their duties. Wada described his administration as the most challenged in the state, because of what he described as insecurity, paucity of funds and the recent flood. He however assured that his administration will succeed.
Earlier, the state’s CAN chairman, Archbishop Emmanuel Egbunu, called on Christians to seek mercy and forgiveness of God through prayers, saying the present challenges will soon pass.
