Peoples Democratic Party’s candidate for the October 20 Ondo State governorship election, Chief Olusola Oke, says he in the race to end years of underdevelopment of the state.

The former PDP Legal Adviser said this while addressing party supporters in Okitipupa on Monday.

Oke, who also received new members to the party, promised to tackle poverty and unemployment in the state.

He said, “All the intervention agencies alongside the state government would work seriously to rescue Ondo State from the current deplorable state of infrastructural development and take it to an  enviable position the state deserves to be.The  people’s welfare would be given a pride of place in the scheme of things in our government.”

Oke assured the newcomers that they would not be discriminated  against.

Meanwhile, former Caretaker Chairman of Ilaje Local Government, Tola Alabere, has defected to the PDP from  the Labour Party along with his supporters.

Alabere said he decided to quit the LP because he discovered that the party  and its leaders were  “a bunch of deceptive people”  and not interested in the development of the riverine areas.

He said, “The suffering of our people is very great in the hands of the LP. We thought they would be able to add value to our lives but the reverse is the case.

“After watching events closely, we decided to leave  the party for a more progressive party like the PDP,  which had been tested and trusted in our local government.”

They promised to work for Oke’s victory at the poll. Home Page
