Ondo Poll: LP Members Defect To ACN In Owo 4 years ago 7

Action Congress of Nigeria in Ondo State has welcomed into its ranks some Labour Party members, who joined the party in Owo Local Government.

The defector from different wards in the LGA  were led into the ACN on Monday by Eniola Ajipe, a special assistant in the Adebayo Adefarati administration, who contested a seat to the Ondo State House of Assembly in Owo in 2011.

While addressing reporters at Emure Ile, in Owo LGA after the event, Director of  Communication, Independent Campaign Network of the ACN, Mr. Bosun Oladimeji, said the defectors were followers of former governorship hopeful, Chief Segun Ojo, who joined LP from ACN.

Oladimeji, who was also part of the team that received the new members, said it was “the beginning of the end for the LP” in the state

“These are the people who were deceived and hoodwinked into joining LP by Ojo but now his supporters have seen the light,” he said.

The defectees included a brother to Ojo, Modupe; another officer in the Adefarati administration, Mr. Olajide Oluloro;  Head of the Security Committee of LP in Owo,  Oluwole Waibi; and former Vice-Chairman of LP in Emure /Uso Ward of the LGA, Mr. Dada Olubu.

A defector, Olajide Oluwole, said they decided to leave LP and Ojo’s camp because he had been “inconsistent and for being a political flirt who has changed party three times within a short time”.

“We will deliver our ward to ACN despite braggings by Ojo that he has control of Owo,” he said.

Ajipe, on his part, said he left ACN in August 2011, when  Ojo defected to LP.

He stated that his decision to leave LP was born out of the fact that he had vowed never to severe political affinity with Ojo.

While receiving the newcomers, ACN governoship candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu, thanked the new members and promised they would be integrated fully into the party. Home Page
