Four persons, suspected to have unleashed terror on some members of the Labour Party in Akure and Owo towns, on Thursday appeared before an Akure Chief Magistrate’s Court.
They were alleged to have attacked three LP members with dangerous weapons.
The accused are Adeyemi Oluwaseun, Abdullahi Arala, Dada Sadibo and Dele Bodunde.
Police prosecutor, Isah Atanegbe, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, told the court that the suspects alongside others still at large used guns to terrorise the towns on September 20 and in the process caused grievous harm to Sunday Ojo, Olaleye Ezekiel and Ola Ojo.
The prosecutor said the accused attacked LP members with dangerous weapons, just as they damaged the party’s electronic balloons valued at N5m. Their offence, Atanegbe added was punishable under Sec. 249 (d) of the Criminal Code of the state.
He further said the offence was punishable under Sec. 335 Cap 37 of the Criminal Code.
Defence counsel, Mr. O. Adeniyan, applied for bail to enable one of the accused to seek medical care for an injury he sustained on the head.
However, Chief Magistrate Akinsola Akintoye in his ruling said the suspects would be given satisfactory treatment at the Olokuta Prison health facility which he described as one of the best in state.
He, therefore, adjourned the case till October 10, 2012 for ruling on the bail application.
