Parcel Bomb Causes Stir In Minna

Residents of Tunga community in Minna, Niger State capital, were shocked to their marrows last week as a suspected letter bomb was discovered in front of Rahmat Cyber Café within the Awwal Ibrahim Commercial Complex which caused pandemonium in Minna metropolis.

Crime & Security investigation further gathered that the suspected letter bomb was allegedly addressed to the proprietor of the Cyber Café by yet an unidentified person.

It was further learnt that the said letter bomb was spotted by a shop keeper who attempted to open the envelop where he discovered that there was a little content wrapped with bandage and electric devices which forced him to throw it into a gutter in front of the shop.

Further checks revealed that the people within the vicinity alerted security agents immediately by placing a call to the police control room where the state special anti-bomb squad were drafted to the scene and ultimately got the letter bomb detonated.

According to an eye witness, the whole business activities at the shopping complex and Abdulsalam Garage also in Tunga were completely paralyzed as residents took to their heels for their dear lives. “Infact the attempt of the first detonation was mild but the second attempt had a loud bang that raised dust which covered some houses.

Women and children were shouting “Waiyo Allah, Waiyo Allah, meaning Oh God, Oh God”, but were calm in view of the presence of armed policemen at the scene, the source stated.

Confirming the incident, the state Police Command Public Relations Officer, Mr Pius Edebor a Deputy Superintendent of Police in a brief interview with the Crime & Security last week in his office, said, no arrest had been made as at the time of filing this report but that investigation into the matter was still on as the command would leave no stone unturned to unravel the misery behind the strange finding in the state.
