The Lagos State Police Command has declared a 33-year-old man, Kelechi Williams, wanted for allegedly murdering his lover, a businesswoman, Lizzy Njideka.

It was reported on July 24, that the suspect, Kelechi Williams murdered his lover, a mother of four on Saturday morning, July 19 at her apartment in Odusanya Oduguwa Crescent, Green Estate, Amuwo Odofin Area of Lagos State.

After murdering the deceased he carted away her $50,000, N8m, ATM cards, jewellery and a Range Rover Sport.

Williams is believed to have fled to Ghana with the loot after killing his lover.

However the homicide detectives from the Area E Police Command, FECTAC, led by Assistant Commissioner of Police, Dan Okoro, were closing in on the suspect, Punch gathered.

A police source said: “We were able to get his hideout through a forensic auditing investigation of his social media networks and with the assistance of Interpol.”

The police source said preliminary investigations revealed that Williams and Njideka had been having affairs for years.

He added that the suspect, who was once her employee, had proposed marriage.

The policeman added that the investigators were also working on the theory that Williams could have committed crimes in South Africa and Angola.

He said: “ACP Dan Okoro and his men believed that the suspect is a habitual criminal.

“The deceased was a single mother and was supposed to travel to the USA, but she also planned to move into a new building at Satellite Town before embarking on the journey.

“Then Williams came in from Ghana to visit her. Nobody thought his visit was unusual. He used to come and go in her home the way he liked, thus it was easy for him to snuff out her life.

“Williams was known by the guard to be in the habit of leaving home at night to cash money through ATM. On the fateful day, he simply drove to the gate and told the unsuspicious security guard that he was going to cash money. He drove out with the woman’s Range Rover.”

Police Public Relations Officer, Ngozi Braide, however, said that the police would soon get the suspect while stating the deceased was strangled at about 2.30am.

She said: “He strangled her with a rope. He locked up the place, packed her money, phones, international passports and about N8m and ran away. We believe he ran to Ghana.”

Braide explained that in the morning of the same day, the victim’s brother, who was supposed to meet her, came over after repeatedly calling her on the telephone without success.

She said the man became worried when he noticed that the house was locked. He went to the FESTAC Police Station.

“The security guard told the policemen that the last person he saw was Williams. The police forced the door open and saw the corpse. But we will get him. It is only a matter of time.”
