I Don't Regret Going Back To PDP, Fani-Kayode Says

Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has said that he has no regrets dumping the All Propgressives Congress, APC, and returning to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Fani-Kayode made this statement on Tuesday, 29 July, 2014, in Osogbo, adding that his decision to return to the PDP was well-thought-out.

The former minister stated that it was better for him to “return home’’ when he did not like the way the APC was being handled.

“Moreover, some of the issues that initially took me out of the PDP have already been addressed.

“’I am back in the PDP for good, the APC is a party being managed by two individuals,” Fani-Kayode alleged.

While commenting on the governorship election in Osun state, billed to take place 9 August, the Ile-Ife-born politician said he was confident of PDP's victory.

Fani-Kayode said the people of Ife would vote massively for PDP’s candidate, Sen. Iyiola Omisore, who he described as a true son of Ile-Ife.

“This is an opportunity for the people of Ife to have their own person at the executive level in the state.

“Omisore was a Deputy Governor, my father was a Deputy Prime Minister in the old Western region.

“This time around, we are going for the highest executive level in Osun because Omisore has what it takes to be governor,” he said.

The Osun state election is predicted to be a close contest between the incumbent Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, of the APC and Senator Iyiola Omisore of the PDP.

Both parties have been campaigning across the state with tensions growing among supporters of both political parties.
