"Christians Abused In Wukari, Taraba State" - Naij.com Reader Reports
A resident of Taraba State complains about the violence plaguing the Wukari local government area and Ibi town, prompting the Federal Government to intervene.
Below is his message to info@naij.com:
"The Federal Government should intervene over crises in Wukari local government area and Ibi town of Taraba State. This story I am telling you is nothing but the truth.
"The power to govern should be given to the Jukun clan, or the crisis will continue.
"Every Christmas period, all Christians in Ibi are not at peace at all.
"In Ibi, the Muslims dominate everything. The authorities should quickly intervene, if not, something terrible may occur because we are pushed to the wall already and there seems to be no way out.
"What has belonged to us was snatched away from us by the Muslims, especially in terms of politics. It is well-known that there are many of us in the local government, but we don't have any wards where we can cast our vote. Anything in the name of development is not coming to our favour."
While President Goodluck Jonathan urges Nigerians to set aside our tribal, religious, ethnic and any other differences in favour of working together as one happy nation, reports of violence between rival communities keep pouring in. Commenting on the issue, some Nigerians had this to say:
Abubakar Madaki: It's the same what Christians in Plateau State are doing to Muslims. My father was born in Plateau, I was born there, too, but the dominating Christians recognize us as strangers. We have no opportunity for social and political benefits despite our contribution to the society.
Adamu Abdullahi Yakub: Blatant lie! Everyone privy to the situation in Wukari, Ibi, Takum and Donga knows how evil and heartless these babarians who hide under the guise of Christianity are. They are no Christians, they have no respect for any religion. They chose to side with fellow Christians to gain sympathy and camouflage to carry out their heinous atrocities against other citizens. It's a waste of time to reason or listen to these bigots anymore. Lies and lies always.

Sophia Nguher Luper: Even in Benue State, only the Tiv people are allowed to take up gov't positions because we are the majority. And it has been like that even since I was born. So, my dear, if you cannot beat them, join them. Or, better still, leave their state for them and look for authority elsewhere.
Luckily, many Nigerians understand that we need to stay united and overcome the odds between us:
Ishaq Bello: Ibi does not belong to Jukuns. Ibi was founded by a Muslim from the Bula clan. It has a majority of Muslims and it will continue to be so by the grace of God. The Jukuns have since 1992 been organising a crusade against Ibi to no avail. At the beginning of this month, the Jukuns sought for reinforcements from Benue, Plateau and Nasarawa states to completely destroy Ibi but God didn't allow them. Currently, people of Ibi are being killed on the outskirts of the town by Tiv and Jukun militias. People of different faiths have been coexisting in Ibi and Wukari until politicians waded in and caused disaffection. We must say no to divisive politicians. Ibi is always attacked, Ibi people only defend themselves and God is with them.
