Kaduna Blasts Planned To Cause Civil Unrest - CRC

The Civil Rights Congress of Nigeria has said the intent of the architect of the twin blasts in Kaduna on Wednesday was to trigger civil unrest in the country.

In a statement released in Kaduna on Friday, July 25 and signed by its President, Mr Shehu Sani, the group said the attack on two prominent Nigerians, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi and Gen. Muhammadu Buhari was an indication that everyone is now vulnerable.

Condemning the blasts, the group said it is wrong for the ruling party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to blame the opposition for insurgency without having proof, adding that it is also wrong to accuse President Jonathan or the Federal Government for the attacks which evidently were the handiwork of the insurgents, Punch reports.

According to the group, the security challenges which the nation is facing should be a matter of concern to all.

Shehu said: "We have a crisis at hand and a historic challenge to address it. These are special moments in the history of our nation, which appeal to our conscience and concern and needs our convergence.

"In the crisis we find ourselves, what will matter most to posterity is not the individual opinion we hold about it but the collective position we took about it."

The group which said there was need for national solidarity in tackling the problem, called on Nigerians to unite in the fight against terrorism, adding that violence will continue if there's no unity to combat it.

As reactions continue to trail the twin Kaduna blasts on Wednesday and the explosion in Kano on Thursday, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in statement, condemned the attacks and their executors, while also expressing sadness and regret over the attacks that claimed lives of innocent Nigerians.
