Armed Robbers Warn Ogun Residents Of Impending Attack
Suspected Armed Robbers on Saturday, July 19, sent a threatening letter to residents of Elerinko Estate in Ijoko-Ota in the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area of Ogun State warning them of an impending attack.
The residents, who are gripped with fear, were warned by the robbers not to discard the threat as they were coming soon.
The suspected robbers pasted letters of their impending on buildings, electric poles and other points in the estate, while warning the residents in their best interest should make sure cash is available when they invade the community, Punch gathered.
It was learnt that the letters were posted between Friday night and Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, some of the residents, who pleaded anonymity for security reasons, have reacted to the threat as they told Punch that the letters had pictures of a skull and bones.
According to a resident: “When we woke up on Saturday, we saw the letters pasted all over the estate asking us to prepare for them, that they are coming.
“The robbers also advised us to withdraw cash from banks to keep at home. They said we had enjoyed peace and no security could stop them.
“Presently, there is panic in this area and many people are planning to move out of the estate. The police should help us.”
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr. Muyiwa Adejobi, said the command was aware of the threat while adding that the commissioner of police has ordered the Area Commander, Titilayo Kayode, to do the needful.
He said: “We have put in place adequate security in the area. I got the information, but I have yet to see the letter.
“The CP has acted on it. The Divisional Police Officer,Ota, Mr. Gabriel Idibie, a Chief Superintendent of Police, and his men have been patrolling the area.”
