Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi Escapes Death In The First Of Kaduna Explosions

A renowned Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi, confirmed that the first of two bomb attacks, which rocked Kaduna short after closing of this year’s Ramadan Tafsir at city’s Murtala Square on July 23, 2014, Wednesday, targeted him.

In an exclusive interview with SaharaReporters the cleric narrated how he had escaped death which was near him and his convoy.

Sheikh Bauchi stated that his escape became possible owing to persistent prayers, tagged the twin bomb blast as “un-Islamic, barbaric and condemnable”.

The cleric, who was morally affected by today’s incident, continued: “In Allah we trust, as such nothing evil shall happen to me. As I speak to you now, am on my way to Saudi Arabia for the laser hajj, so nothing happened to me and my convoy. I'm safe and call on our people to continue to pray against the perpetrators of this devil act.”

This is not the first time Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is targeted by terrorists. In the evening of July 1, 2014, a bomb went off around the Asikolaye/Bakin Ruwa along Nnamdi Azikwe expressway. The top scholar of Tijjaniya sect and his entourage were the alleged targets.

The second Wednesday’s terrorist attack in Kawo Area, 1 Div of the Nigerian Army, Kaduna, was aimed at the convoy of the ex military Head of State and the prominent opposition leader Muhammadu Buhari.
