Poll On Chibok: Nigerians Are Dissatisfied With FG's Performance

According to the results of the poll conducted by Punch Online Extra, the majority of Nigerians think the government is not doing enough to rescue the abducted Chibok girls.

All the respondents, 886 people, were asked one and the same question: "After three months in captivity, what is your opinion on the effort of the Federal Government to rescue the Chibok abducted schoolgirls?" They had 3 options of answer: Poor, Commendable and Don’t know.

See the people's opinion below:

714 (81%) of respondents characterized the government's performance as poor;

116 (13%) consider the authorities' efforts commendable;

56 (6%) picked the option "don’t know".

It would be recalled that President Goodluck Jonathan was highly criticized over his slow reaction to the tragedy, which rocked Chibok town on April 14. The global attention to the issue was attracted by the online campaign #BringBackOurGirls, which was followed by immediate offers of help from various countries from all over the world, including USA, UK and France.

The disappointment of Nigerians may also be connected with the fact that months after the tragedy the country leader failed to visit the affected town. Yesterday, July 22, President Jonathan for the first time met with the aggrieved parents and some of the escaped girls

Meanwhile, today Nigeria, so as the whole world, mark 100 days of the unprecedented act. While parents try not to lose hope, some of them have reportedly passed away from heart-related issues, being unable to handle the grief.
