CCAC Supports Ikuforiji’s Governorship Ambition

Christian Coalition Against Corruption (CCAC) has pledged support to Hon Adeyemi Ikuforiji in his ambition to become the next governor of Lagos State.

Commending Lagos State House of Assembly Ikuforiji, the chairman of the religious body Bishop Francis Shopekan was quoted saying by Leadership:

"We have been reliably informed that you want to be governor of the state; we will like to be one of those who will give you support for this project."

According to CCAC official, the Ikuforiji's performance in the House of Assembly is contradictory to the negative image some people have of the speaker:

"This award is being given to you after you have been duly nominated and recommended by well-meaning people in the society. We want you to know that we have carefully followed your track record, works, and all activities since you resumed office as speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly."

It would be recalled that Ikuforiji several times expressed his strong desire to run for Lagos governorship in 2015, which he officially announced about 2 months ago.

Being a potential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), the speaker once even claimed he had turned to God with the question whether he should be the governor of Lagos State. According to him, he got the divine approval.

Meanwhile Ikuforiji's so as his aide are still under trial, which started last year, on the allegation of money laundering. In connection with this the speaker's critics claim the state deserves a better governor saying he should shelve his ambition and leave the political scene forever.
