7 Factors That Will Decide The 2014/2015 Premiership Title

7 Factors That Will Decide The 2014/2015 Premiership Title

Oh yes, few weeks from now, the English Premiership is back on our TV screen after the unending one month football at the FIFA World cup in Brazil. Though the various club sides are currently in their pre-season tour, taking a look at factors that will shape where the pendulum will swing would not be out of place.

1.NEVER YOU RULE MOURINHO

Discountenance Jose Mourinho at your peril. Though for the first time in the Portuguese’s coaching career, he went two consecutive seasons without winning a title, after failing in his last season with Madrid and the out gone season with Chelsea. But we all know the special one or if you like the only one. Don’t we? His illustrious coaching career is unrivalled and impeccable, hence if he gets his tactics right, then the Blues are in for a shout.

2.DIEGO COSTA’S ARRIVAL

Only Christiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi scored more that this Brazilian cum Spaniard during the 2013/2014 La Liga season. Chelsea’s major albatross last season was the shortage of strikers, with the likes of Demba Ba, Fernando Toress and Samuel Eto woeful in front of goal. So with the arrival of the prolific Costa, there might be a torrent of goals to look out for. Will he shine?

3. THE WILY OLD MAN CALLED VAN GAAL

Van Gaal in Man United? Who would have thought that Van Gaal would ever manage at the Theater of Dreams with Sir Alex Ferguson holding sway at United just over a year ago? Van Gaal’s catalogue of trophies is there for all to see. His wealth of experience would serve as catalyst and in great departure from the trial and error approach of David Moyes. Time will tell

4. WENGER IS NO MORE STINGY

Arsenel Wenger signing players with reckless abandon? Am I dreaming? Alexi Sanches, Mathew Van Buena all in quick succession. Has Wenger ever signed anyone in that fashion? I thought he is a last minute person? It really seems Wenger does not want to play second fiddle to the likes Chelsea and Manchester City. At last Arsenal fans would look beyond the usual challenge for 4th spot. But really, If 4th position were to be a trophy, Wenger and Arsenal would have a whole lot in their trophy cabinet. How long will Wenger keep up this pace of big signings?

5. LUIS SUAREZ’EXIT

The little man from Uruguay just packed his bag and baggage to Barcelona. And this leaves Liverpool bereaved. It is no news that Suarez single handedly propelled Liverpool to their second place finish last season with 31 league goals. Can such a Team ever remain the same? It is a big NO, especially with the fact that there is no player in the mould of Suarez in the current Liverpool squad. The likes of Adam Lalana, Remy and Ricky Lambert are not just the replacement for the biting Suarez.

6. PRESSURE ON MANCHESTER CITY

The Etihad boys won the league diadem after the calamity of Liverpool. So this season would come as a stern test if Manuel Pellegrini and his men would do the back to back title. Will Yahya Toure come to the party? Hope the Aguero at the world cup would not resurface again? I really doubt if they would be able to manage the pressure repeating the feat of winning the league once again.

7. WHO ARE THE SIGNINGS AT MAN UTD?

We have heard all kind of names ranging from Paul Pogba, Argen Robben, Aturo Vidal etc. But seriously, who are those coming to Man Utd? Love or hate him, David Moyes failed at Old Trafford due to his awful signings. There is no gain saying the fact that Unite is lacking quality players. The squad is depleted! So if the right players found their way to Old Trafford, the glory days beckons.
