PDP denies allegation by the APC that the ruling party stand behind Rivers attack

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has denied the allegations by the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC) that the ruling party organized mayhem on APC registration officials in Degema and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas of Rivers State.

The PDP commented an alarm raised by Special Adviser on Media to the Interim Chairman of the APC in Rivers State, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze who claimed that the ruling party and a pro-PDP the Grassroots Development Initiative (GDI) stand behind the attacks.

On Thursday a middle aged man identified as Andy Hornby was registering in APC when an unknown shot him dead at Degema Local Government area of the state.

This was confirmed to the media by the state Commissioner for Empowerment Ipalibo Harry.

Andy Hornby was a younger brother of the APC Chieftain Prince Amibi Hornby.

In a statement signed by the Media Adviser to Felix Obuah, Jerry Needam, said that these allegations are "false and unfounded."

According to the recent media report, more violence has erupted across the Rivers State including in Obio-Akpor, Elele, Ahaoda, Okrika and Ogu-Bolo local government areas.

The Publicity Secretary of the APC in the state Andy Nweye told DailyPost that violent youths harassed and assaulted some of their party officers and carted away their registration materials.

The paramount ruler of Fouchee community where the killing took place, HRH Black-Iwerima condemned the shooting and wondered what would become of the elections if such could happen during a party registration.
