Nigerian Stars Dominate MTV MAMA 2015 Nominees List

The giant 24-hour music channel MTV Base has just unveiled the nominations for the 2015 MTV Africa Music Awards. As usual Nigerian superstars dominate the list.  

At a star-studded reception at Harem, Johannesburg, South Africa attended by MAMA awards 2015 nominees, Seyi Shay, Diamond Platnumz, Black Motion and a host of other artistes, a total of 70 nominees were revealed across 13 different categories.

The most prestigious category is The Best Male act and it has AKA (SA), Davido (Nigeria), Diamond (Tanzania) and Wizkid (Nigeria) and Sarkodie (Ghana) competing in the category it is a sure close one.  The Best Female act category has Bucie (SA), Busiswa (SA), Seyi Shay (Nigeria), Vanessa Mdee (Tanzania) and Yemi Alade (Nigeria) competing for the top price.

The battle for supremacy and popularity of Hip Hop artistes in the continent is captured in the keenly contested Best Hip Hop category in which Cassper Nyovest (South Africa) is battling it out with K.O. (South Africa), Olamide (Nigeria), Phyno (Nigeria) and Youssoupha (DRC).

And recognising the contribution of new talent on the continent, the nominees for Best New Act are Cassper Nyovest (South Africa), Anna Joyce (Angola), Duncan (South Africa), Patoranking (Nigeria) and Stonebwoy(Ghana).
