Group Exposes Kashamu’s Schemes To Stop Extradition Suit

A group known as the Justice Watch Group of Nigeria has raised fears that the extradition suit filed against Ogun state Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu over his possible extradition to the United States of America may fail due to unforeseen forces.

The group in this respect, petitioned the chief judge of the Federal High Court, questioning why cases instituted against Mr Kashamu end up before certain Judges who were likely to give him a favourable judgment.

According to Premium Times, In the petition signed by the group’s chairman, Modele Arise, it complained that: ”We have been watching very keenly the trend in the Federal High Court whereby cases filed by or filed against Buruji Kashamu or anything bothering on his interest, most especially on Ogun State political issues end up before specific judges of the Federal High Court”.

Citing instances, it alleged that all of Mr. Kashamu’s cases were in time past handled by Justice C.B Archibong who delivered judgments in favour of Mr. Kashamu until he was fired by the National Judicial Commission following complaints.

It noted that Justice Abang who now handles most of Kashamu’s cases since the dismissal of Mr. Archibong, was also delivering judgements in favour of Kashamu.

It called for urgent redress to be done so as to ensure that justice is done. It also accused Kashamu of interfering with the judicial process to obtain a favourable judgment before the end of the current political dispensation.

The senator-elect who's extradition suit has raised lots of controversy recently sued the Inspector-General of Police and 11 others including the Nigerian Drug Laws Enforcement Agency, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and the Department of State Security, to forestall any future extradition.
