Nigerians React To Man Who Trekked From Lagos To Abuja

Suleiman Hashimu, the man who promised to walk from Lagos to Abuja if Buhari wins the 2015 presidential elections, finally arrived at his destination on April 20, Monday.

He received a heroic welcome from the large crowd that was awaiting his arrival.

According to Hashimu, he was in Lagos when Buhari was announced the president-elect of Nigeria and the next day he embarked on his journey as early as 5am.

Upon arrival in Abuja, he told reporters that the journey took 13 days. He however failed to provide important details on the time he left Lagos or the going away celebrations he may have had.

He also did not explain his walking and resting schedule along the 746Km journey, which would take about 9 hours by car.

While many have commended him for his bravery, many others are still in doubt that Suleiman embarked on such a feat. Some have voiced their reservations about how realistic it is for someone to trek from Lagos to Abuja.

Below are mixed reactions of Nigerians that have trailed Hashimu's feat.

Some other Nigerians however congratulated him for achieving such feat.

Hashimu became famous when he was spotted in Lapai in Niger state and got a befitting welcome from the people of the state. He stayed at the Lapai palace for two nights and continued on his journey.

An Abuja businessman was said to have paid N550,000 to cover one week’s accommodation and food for Suleman Hashimu at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja ahead of his arrival.
