Boko Haram Insurgents Behead 19 Cameroonians In Bia

Members of the dreaded Boko Haram sect on April 16, Thursday, killed 19 people in a Cameroonian village.

A security source, who asked for anonymity, disclosed that the majority of the victims had been beheaded, Vanguard reports.

"The final toll from this attack is 19 dead, with a majority of the victims decapitated."

It had been initially reported that 10 civilians of Bia village, located in the far north of the country, had been killed.

Bia had been formerly identified by the security forces as a place where Boko Haram recruited fighters.

Speaking with AFP on April 18, a member of the security forces lamented the slow reaction of the military to the terrorists' raid on Bia.

"We noted a late response by our forces.  Many huts were burned down."

Cameroon has been actively participating in the fight against Boko Haram militants and has recorded numerous successful operations as part of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) which was recently formed to tackle insurgency in the area.
