Senator Ojudu Reveals How Obanikoro Emerged Minister

It is no longer breaking news that the former Minister of Defence, Senator Musliu Obanikoro was today Wednesday March 11 confirmed a minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

A serving Senator of the Federal Republic representing Ekiti Central District from Ekiti Central on the platform of the country's major opposition party, the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ojudu Babafemi took to his twitter handle in reaction to the nomination of Obanikoro as a minister.

The move started after President Goodluck Jonathan sent eight ministerial nominees to the National Assembly for consideration which included the former Minister of State for Defence name.

The development, however, sparked reaction from concerned Nigerians and group because few days before the president's move, a scandalous audio about last year’s alleged election rigging in Ekiti State that brought the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Ayo Fayose into power became public notice as published by Sahara Reporters.

The former Minister of State for Defense, in an attempt to deceive Nigerians, embraced Sahara Reporter with a law suit for publishing the material, and went ahead to hire a US law firm, Tacopina and Seigel, who also confirmed that it was hired by Obanikoro in a court case against online news platform.

Meanwhile, as the drama proceeded, the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in a reaction described the addition of Senator Obanikoro, in the ministerial nominees’ list by Mr. President as laughable.

Just two weeks ago, a civil society group, known as All Nigeria Save Democracy Movement (ANSD), also added its voice to the call to halt Koro's nomination by kicking against it.

Recall that the attempt to screen Obanikoro last week ended in chaos and the screening had to be deferred though the lawmakers screened four others nominees at the Senate chamber.
