Reigning NPL Champions Attacked By Robbers

 Players and officials of Nigerian Premeir league side, Kano Pillars were today attacked by armed robbers in Abaji, a suburb of Abuja.

They were on their way to Oweeri, Imo state to battle with Heartland FC.

Their media officer, Idris Malikawa confirmed the incident to Premium Times and said unknown gunmen attacked the bus conveying the players at about 1.pm Thursday afternoon.

“We are now in Lokoja attending to our players and officials who suffered varying degrees of wound after the bus we were traveling with was attack by armed robbers in Abaji today,” he said.

When asked if the team would continue their journey to Owerri, Malikawa said: “Please I can’t say anything about match, we are talking of the life of our players, when we have sorted that we will talk about match''.

The Kano based club are expected to represent the nation in the  CAF Champions League  after defeating South Sudan side Al Malaika.
