Fayose Blasts Buhari Again

Controversial Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, is in the news again for election matters.

The no 1 citizen of Ekiti state, who has been doling out front page adverts in several national newspapers in support of President Goodluck Jonathan in the forth-coming March 28 presidential election, seem not to be deterred by the criticism that has accompanied his past actions.

The governor, who recently expressed his worry that Tinubu and his cabal were pushing General Buhari too much because of their selfish interests, has started a new campaign advert in his favourite newspaper, The Sun.

The advert, which surfaced on the front page of the Orji Uzor-Kalu-owned newspaper today, had the words "Dear Nigerians, Good News! The month of Febuhari is GONE! Now, we are in March For Goodluck"

In an apparent referral to Buhari's supposed health challenges, the advert then concluded with the words, "Vote for a young and healthy and energetic Goodluck Jonathan". See the advert below:

Fayose has been at the forefront of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) opposition to Gen Muhammadu Buhari's presidential ambitions. He has constantly put out adverts castigating the former military head of state, and at one point suggested that he might die in office if elected.

To his credit, this latest advert has no malice, and one can only hope he continues this way.

It will be recalled that the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently sounded a warning to Governor Fayose on his role in the recent “blackmail” of the party’s presidential candidate in the forthcoming elections, General Muhammadu Buhari.

Meanwhile, there are reports that major stakeholders of the PDP will distance themselves from the controversy over the Ekiti rigging tape, in which some senior members of the party were allegedly recorded planning how to rig the governorship election held in the state on June 16 last year.
