Meet 20-Year-Old Woman Who Looks Like 7-Year-Old Girl

A 19-year-old girl with a rare medical problem has the appearance of a 7-year-old child , Huzhu, China's Sichuan Province.

When little Zeng Yushan turned seven, she stopped growing and was diagnosed with a tumour on her pituitary gland. The pituitary gland releases hormones growth and puberty hormones, a deficiency of which causes problems with growth and body development.

Zeng's parents, who couldn't afford to pay for treatment, divorced and the girl stayed with her seriously ill father. The pair were begging on the streets until the man died, leaving the girl alone. After awhile she was spotted begging by a warm-hearted couple who agreed to adopt the poor child.

At the moment of her Guo Liu and his wife met Zeng she had suffered horrific physical problems because of her medical condition. She is now getting regular medical care and although she is 20, still looks as if she is seven or eight-years-old and has the mental ability of a child aged around five or six.

Speaking about Zeng's future her new father said, "We plan to take her to a doctor in the capital Beijing who might be able to help her. For the moment she is okay with us, but we want to try and get into a position where she might be able to do something for herself when we are no longer able to look after her."

Pituitary tumours in childhood are very uncommon - one in 1,000 adults has one and they are less common in children. In Western countries artificial growth hormones that can be injected once a day are used for treatment.
