Why Bello Isyaku was Summoned On Buhari's Certificate

Contrary to reports that the principal of Government College, Katsina State, Bello Isyaku, has been questioned about the college's release of Gen Muhammadu Buhari's secondary school certificate results, the state's commissioner of education, Professor Kado Kurfi, has explained what really happened.

According to Prof Kurfi, speaking with Daily Trust at the weekend, the principal was only invited to Katsina state Ministry of Education to verify the results he released.

“No query was issued; why do I have to do that? We invited him to verify if indeed he was the one that released it and to ensure that it is genuine,” the commissioner said.

It will be recalled that since the principal released Gen Buhari's secondary school results, there have been mixed reactions as to whether the results are genuine or fake.

Only at the weekend that were rumours that Isyaku had been killed by gunmen because he released Buhari's results.

However, the Katsina Police command, on January 25, 2015, Sunday, debunked the rumour.

In a press conference, the command’s public relations officer, Aminu Sadiq, stated this to journalists in Katsina.

He said that the command had contacted top officials of the ministry of education and they confirmed that the principal was in good health.

Barely 24 hours after the principal released the results of the All Progressives Congress Presidential candidate, Gen Buhari, he reportedly received several death threats.

Last week, former Nigerian president Olusegun Obasanjo spoke about the Buhari certificate controversy.

According to Obasanjo, incumbent President Goodluck Jonathan is aware that Buhari is legally entitled to run for the February presidential poll, but hawks in Jonathan's administration do not want Buhari to contest the election because they believe that he will win, and come after them.
