President Jonathan Congratulates General Buhari At 72

President Goodluck Jonathan has written to congratulate the former Head of State and the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Gen. Muhammadu Buhari on the occasion of his 72nd birthday which comes up on December 17, Wednesday.

The Presidential spokesperson, Dr Reuben Abati, issued a greeting message on December 16, 2014, Tuesday. According to it, President Jonathan prayed that God would grant the former Head of State many more years of good health and personal fulfillment.

“As you mark your 72nd birthday anniversary, I write, on behalf of my family, the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to extend warm felicitations to you.

“I join your family, friends, and well-wishers to thank God for your life and to pray that He continues to guide, guard and prosper you even as He blesses you with many more years of abounding health and personal fulfillment,”  President Jonathan's message read.

In conclusion, he wished Gen. Buhari a very happy birthday.

Muhammadu Buhari (born December 17, 1942) is a Nigerian politician and a retired Major General in the Nigerian Army who was the military ruler of Nigeria from December 31, 1983 to August 27, 1985.

The presidential candidate is in the centre of controversy for various reasons: religious, ethnic, political and even family. For instance, rumours that have been making rounds that one of his daughters is married to a man from Anambra State has been debunked recently.
