Troops Shut Adamawa Communities, Hunt Boko Haram Insurgents

The Nigerian military are now hunting some Boko Haram militants between Hong and Michika in Adamawa State, in an effort to flush out the terrorists.

According to the Punch it was gathered that some youths, who are mostly from Michika, had hid in the community to attack soldiers in the communities around Michika.

The soldiers have limited movement from Hong to Michika to prevent the terrorists from fleeing the area.

The source said that some of the insurgents supposed to be from the Michika area launched an attack on an army checkpoint in the town but were resisted by the soldiers.

It was collected that the soldiers, riot policemen and vigilance groups are carrying out house-to-house search to flush out the insurgents hiding in some of the communities.

A source said: “You know, some of the youths from Michika joined them, and they attacked the troops in the town.

“The soldiers were able to repel the attack and pursued them to some communities outside the main town.

“The troops have also imposed a no movement order on the area from Hong to Michika.”

According to the source the troops recovered three buses which were taken away from the College of Education, Hong, during the invasion of the community by the insurgents.

It would be recalled that the Nigerian army combating terrorism in the North-East has recently taken full control of three communities in Adamawa State, which had in the past few weeks fallen under the control of Boko Haram terrorists resulting in the displacement of many persons.

The last attack of Boko Haram sect occurred yesterday when a blast has struck a busy textile market in the north Nigerian city of Kano, killing at least 6 people and wounding 7 others.
