I Can Tackle Nigeria's Problems - Kwankwaso

Governor of Kano state, Alhaji Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has explained why he wants to become president of Nigeria in 2015.

Speaking with journalists in Kano yesterday night, Kwankwaso said he has been studying Nigeria’s problems over the years and he has come to realize he possesses the experience and expertise to tackle those issues and bring about a change in Nigeria, Leadership reports.

He said he wants to be president so he can address the fundamental socio-economic challenges facing Nigeria, based on the fact that he truly understands what the country needs in order to become great among the comity of nations.

According to the governor, Nigeria was in need of someone like him who has a rich background as a long-standing public servant, an engineer and a one-time Defence Minister, who has seen the country from various angles.

He lamented the security situation in the north which has driven away many Nigerians to neighbouring Chad, Niger republic and Cameroon where they are now refugees.

The situation is so bad that apart from those displaced by the insurgents, many other Nigerians have been hospitalised while others have gone into hiding just to save their lives, while the system continues to give assurance of victory,” Kwankwaso said.

He described as unacceptable, government’s inability to curb the rising security challenges in the country.

Kwankwaso added that his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC) was working hard to ensure it wins the forthcoming 2015 general elections convincingly and make use of the opportunity to move the country to greater heights.

The governor who is yet to formally declare his intention for the presidential contest said he was still consulting with other stakeholders across Nigeria on his next political move and he would declare formally when the time is right.

There were reports that Gov. Kwankwaso had declared his intention to run for the post of president on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Shortly after, Kwankwaso responded to the report, saying he is still soliciting the opinions of friends and political associates on whether to join the race for the post of president the forthcoming election.

Meanwhile, some Chieftains of the Kano State All Progressives Congress (APC) had denied endorsing Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso for the 2015 presidential election.
