Synagogue Mute Over Zuma's Claims

Synagogue Mute Over Zuma's Claims

The Synagogue Church of All Nations (SCOAN) has remained silent over claims by South African President, Jacob Zuma, who said that 67 of his nationals died in the disaster that happened in the church on Friday.

The church has said nothing on the number of people affected neither have they said anything about their identities.

Rather than react to Zuma’s claims, the church on Wednesday, September 17, went round the various hospitals where survivors are being treated in search of South Africans.

It was observed by The Nation during visit to some of the hospitals, that church members were offsetting the bills of their patients, while South African nationals were being discharged and taken away by the church, a move which is geared towards preparing the South Africans for their return home as well as finds ways to respond to Zuma’s claim.

Government agencies have also denied Zuma’s claims, wondering how and where Zuma came about his figures as they were not even aware of the identities of victims or survivors.

They stated that the figures released by the agencies were true representation of operational findings.

As at 4.50pm today, the death toll had risen to 80, including three non-Africans.

It would be recalled that the building belonging to the SCOAN collapsed in Ikotun area of Lagos Friday afternoon claiming scores of lives, leaving many injured and trapped under debris.

T.B. Joshua had claimed it was a terrorist attack.

Zuma later alleged that 67 South Africans are among the worshipers that died during the collapse.
